End Citizens United And Their Mission

End Citizens United was started to change campaign finance laws, and I believe in the mission enough to help out. I know that there are a number of people who are joining the cause because we want to see campaigns held on a level playing field, and we are helping raise money for End Citizens United to ensure they may reach the public. This article explains why I am interested in helping End Citizens United with their mission.

#1: The PAC Has A Specific Mission

The PAC has a specific mission that anyone may partake in, and I am joining them because I do not want to see wealthy people giving public offices because they have money. Changing campaign finance and special interest laws is the mission of the cause, and I have done quite a lot of canvassing to that effect. I want to ensure that people know what happens when big money is used to impact elections, and I check our social media feed every day.

#2: Social Media

The social media feed that End Citizens United has is one that is quite easy to read. They post stories there quite often because they find new information on big money. I have read many articles that I was unaware of, and End Citizens United posts all the most current information on the world of politics. The politics that are impacted by money change elections, and someone who has quite a lot of money moves the meter of public interest.

#3: The Fundraising

We are raising money for End Citizens United, and we are looking toward a goal of $35 million when we are raising money. I believe in raising money to ensure that the cause may reach its goals. They wish to change the campaign finance laws, and they know that all special interests will be removed from government after they ensure the laws have been changed. Changing the law is the only way to make a difference, and someone who is interested in changing the world may join us in the mission.

End Citizens United is quite interesting because they are lobbying congress to stop the special interest lobby. They want to take big money out of government, and we are involved in helping congress understand that special interests do not serve the needs of the American people. I want to make a difference for my children and grandchildren through End Citizens United.

In 2010, the United States Supreme Court made a decision that led to a legal recognition of corporations as people. This decision led to the build-up of massive amounts of money in the United States politics. Many dark money corporations rose to support various candidates and used them to pursue their own political and business interests. This left the Americans out in the cold yet they are the people suffering due to the decisions of a few rich people.

Thanks to public education on the effect of the increasing monies in the politics, more and more Americans are joining hands in an attempt to reverse the Citizens United decision. March 2015 was the beginning of a new era for the United States. A new political action committee called End Citizens United was established. The main aim of this committee was to pressure the congress into approving reforms for that will eradicate the dark money that is tainting American politics. The committee was officially launched in August 2015.

End Citizens United is operating with three objectives. The first is to prioritize the matter of campaign finance making it a national priority. One way to achieve this is through creating awareness which the committee is doing through membership and advertising their endorsed candidates. This brings us to the second objective which is fostering leaders who are supporters of the campaign finance reforms. These are mostly Democratic candidates seeing that Republicans have been pulling down any attempts to achieve these reforms. The final objective is to use grassroots membership to show the power of the Americans in regards to the people.

The members are supporting the committee through making donations and also participating in the committee’s activity. One of the major activities that End Citizens United has engaged in is the seeking of signatures in support of their petition to Congress. This petition requests congress to pass the campaign finance reforms. Over 325, 000 members had signed this petition before the official launch. To increase these signatures, End Citizens United teamed up with the “Ready for Clinton” campaign which would bring together two great teams.

During 2015, End Citizens United endorsed 11 democratic leaders. Among those endorsed were Wisconsin County’s former senator Russ Feingold and Colorado’s senator Michael Bennet. During the 2016 election, the group supported their candidates through various advertisement channels. This has all been possible due to the donations that their members and other supporters are making towards their course. During its official launched the group had 136,000 donations amounting to over $2 million. Its aim was to raise about $25 million. The group also realized the lack of transparency in campaign finance and thus is leading by example. Its statements were presented to the Federal Election Commission and are open to their donors and other interested members of the society.
