Mikhail Blagosklonny: The Fight Against Cancer and Aging

Work History and Education Background

Blagosklonny is a medical expert who studies aging and cancer. At the moment, he is a professor of Oncology at Roswell Park Institute. He earned an MD in internal medicine at the First Pavlov State Medical University of St. Petersburg. He also got a Ph.D. in Experimental Medicine and Cardiology from the same institution. In 2002, Mikhail became an associate professor of Medicine at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. A while later he became a senior scientist at Ordway Research Institute. He stayed there till 2009 when he was hired by Roswell Park Cancer Institute as the Professor of Oncology.

Mikhail Blagosklonny gained a lot of experience and skills from the different places that he worked. His passion and expertise make him an excellent professor. Some of his research interests include Biogerontology (the mechanism of aging), cancer, anti-aging drugs and targeted cancer therapies that guard healthy cells against damage.

Blagosklonny’s Hypothesis

Mikhail Blagosklonny has pioneered a hypothesis that explains the potential role of TOR Signaling in cancer and aging. In his theory, he proposed the use of Rapamycin, a popular drug used in the treatment of cancer. He suggested this as a possible way to extend a person’s life. He has been categorized as one of the most fervent advocates of Rapamycin in longevity research.

Editorial Works

Mikhail also works as the editor-in-chief at Oncotarget and Cell Cycle. In addition to this, he is the associate editor of cancer biology and therapy. He is an author of aging hyperfunction theory. His has a keen interest in oncology and believes that aging and cancer can be controlled. He has written about chemotherapeutic engineering and cell cyclotherapy. Blagosklonny has written around 300 research articles, reviews, and book chapters. He is an associate editor of the American Journal of Pathology, PLOS ONE and International Journal of Cancer.

Roswell Park Cancer Institute

The staff members of Roswell Park Cancer Institute were exhilarated when Blagosklonny was appointed to join the institution in April 2009. The facility houses scientists who share the same desire and approaches to stop cancer.
