Dick DeVos Has Been A Leader All Of His Life

Billionaire Richard “Dick” DeVos is a successful entrepreneur and businessman who was born in Grand Rapids Michigan. He is also the eldest son of Amway founder Richard DeVos. After joining the company in the 1970s, he helped build Amway into one of the most recognizable and profitable direct marketing companies in the world.

DeVos served as CEO of Amway from 1993-2002. He then took the helm of the newly acquired Orlando Magic basketball team for five years. After stepping away from the Orlando Magic, DeVos started his own company — the Windquest Group. The company specialties in home goods and brings in an estimated $1 billion annually. The company is now partnering with green energy initiatives to make economically sustainable products.

DeVos is also a huge proponent of school vouchers and school choice. The Education Freedom Fund run by he and his wife Betsy helps low income students gain access to schools outside of the inner city. The Dick and Betsy DeVos Foundation provides generous financial support to foundations like The American Red Cross and a number of Christian-based schools in Michigan.

DeVos also made a bid to unseat Democratic Governor Jennifer Granholm in 2006. He ran on the platform of school choice, unemployment and Granholm’s reluctance to fix the state’s broken educational system. On some occasions, DeVos led in the polls and was seemingly on the verge of winning until the last month of the campaign. He eventually lost but says running for office is still on his radar screen.

Over the years, DeVos has given millions to the arts, the Heritage Foundation and the Kennedy Center. He sits on a number of boards including the West Michigan Aviation Academy, Michigan State Chamber of Commerce and the Orlando Magic.

DeVos and his wife, Betsy, have four children and one grandchild.

Don Ressler and A History of Working Together

Few entrepreneurs are able to point to a string of successes like Don Ressler has.  Ressler has been able to build companies up and then sell them, enabling him to go from one success to another.
